The Livingston County Historical Society is looking for artifacts to add to their collection.

Steve Walters, member of the historical society, said many times people either inherit or stumble upon items and don’t know what they’re worth. He said by contacting the historical society, those items could be evaluated and given an estimate and if the owner chooses to donate the item, they can get a tax credit.

“I see auctions all the time stuff is getting split up and sold piece by piece and the person walking away doesn’t know anything about the history or where the item came from, so that’s what we’re looking for, and that’s what most history groups do,” Walters said.
