Pontiac Police arrested a Pontiac man on several charges Sunday, including reckless discharge of a firearm.
Twenty-six year old Jeffrey B. Gourley was arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, defacing identification marks on a firearm, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, possession of drug paraphernalia and retail theft.
The evening began after a call came in from the 800 block of Illini Avenue reporting slashed tires. The suspect was located and a traffic stop was conducted, where several spent bullet casings were located. Gourley was one of the passengers of the vehicle. That investigation led to the search of an apartment, which resulted in more spent bullets, a live one and a television with a bullet hole in it.
Shortly after, Casey’s General Store reported a theft of liquor, where surveillance recorded Gourley stealing a bottle of vodka.
When a search warrant was obtained for Gourley’s residence, officers found drug paraphernalia and firearms inside. One of the firearms was reported stolen and the other had the serial number scratched off.
The incident remains under investigation with further charges pending.
