Pontiac Police nabbed a suspected car burglar in the early morning hours Saturday.
According to Pontiac Police Major Dan Davis, officers were responding to a call of a possible car burglary and while on the scene they found other vehicles that had apparently been burglarized. While on the scene, they ran into Michael Somers Jr., 23, of Pontiac. Davis said Somers was in possession of several items that didn’t belong to him and was subsequently arrested. An Illinois Department of Corrections parole warrant was issued later, as Somers is currently on parole from a past offense.
“The police department is in possession of several items we did recover from the burglary suspect. If you feel as though your car was burglarized during that time frame, please call Detective Nick Taylor here at the police department to claim that property,” Davis said.
Detective Taylor can be reached by calling the department at 844-5148.
