The Livingston County Board met last night and approved the 2016 fiscal year budget.
Chairman Marty Fannin said one of the most contentious decisions about the budget was the multi-use path and he explained that, as a taxpayer, he wanted people to know it was coming from the enterprise fund, which isn’t tax money.
“It’s coming out of the Enterprise Fund, which is for county enhancement, so that’s the argument there. As you can see, there were only (I think it was) four that voted against based on those ideas, so most of the people understood where it was coming from and what it was for,” Fannin said.
Both Fannin and Sheriff Tony Childress addressed accusations made towards the sheriff’s department, then the press conference Childress held last week. The podcast of this morning’s late edition of the community forum with Fannin will be available later this morning and Childress will be a guest on the early edition of the Forum Monday morning. There, they will both be able to expand on the situation at hand.
