A Saunemin woman was recognized Sunday for her work to eliminate drunk driving.

Keri Jo Horrie-Schmidt was the guest speaker during the Illinois Mothers Against Drunk Driving’s annual Heroes Banquet in Springfield. Schmidt also received the Murphy Leadership Award.

Twenty-nine others, which included law enforcement, media, volunteers and other individuals who have made substantial efforts in the Campaign to Eliminate Drunk Driving, were also honored Sunday.
