The Pontiac District 90 Board of Education met last night and were presented with a finalized budget, which they passed in a unanimous vote.
Superintendent Jon Kilgore said the budget came with the State’s passing of a K-12 education budget, which helped them finalize some numbers.
“We presented the tentative budget last month and tonight, we presented the final budget and that was approved. We have a balanced budget with a projected $65,000 surplus due to the reductions we made in expenditures over the last year,” Kilgore said.
Some capital projects were also discussed, which included a new roof for the gym/auditorium area of the building. John Tibbs was hired to do a lot of work around the school, and since May, has saved the district and estimated $72,000 and an estimated $625,000 for the next three years. Some of that work includes pool restroom, kitchen and clock repairs.
