A Bloomington man has decided to attempt to raise $50,000 to raise awareness for a treatment for a disease many suffer from.

Sean Bennett, who was born and raised in Pontiac, was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and in a short time, has experienced the devastating effects of the autoimmune disease. He has researched a treatment not offered in the United States called HSCT, which uses the patient’s own stem cells to not only treat the disease, but as some claim, nearly cures it.

Bennett is looking to experience the treatment through his research has found has a 91 percent success rate while he raises awareness of the treatment itself.

“For the last seven months, I have gone from walking to barely being able to stand or walk. I was diagnosed in June this year and even if I don’t raise the money, everyone deserves this treatment. Nobody deserves to live with multiple sclerosis,” Bennett said.

Information about HSCT can be found on Bennett’s GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/773rp2nu.
