The Livingston County Board met last night and addressed a situation caused by the state’s inability to pass a budget.
The Motor Fuel Tax is money the county highway department gets from the state that funds a large portion of the work it does. Chairman Marty Fannin explained the loan that the county gave the department.
“What we’ve done is float a loan, in case they need it in waiting to see what the State’s going to do. We should be flush until probably late December or early January, but we don’t want to run out of money at that time,” Fannin said.
The lengthy meeting was brought on by a lot of discussion about the review of the Indian Grove Township ordinance, which requested township-specific setbacks for wind energy conversion, which was tabled, and extending the moratorium by six months, which was approved.
