Stay safe while children are returning to school

With school starting all over the county in coming weeks, drivers are urged to be aware of returning students, whether on bicycles, on foot or on school buses.

Mark Jontry, regional superintendent of schools for Livingston, McLean, DeWitt and Logan counties, said it’s important to follow the rules when they see students out and about on their way to and from schools.

“I would just plea with our listeners, our adult drivers, to look out for those yellow buses. They will be restarting their routes before and after school,” Jontry said. “Be aware of that and obey the rules where approaching school buses is involved.”

Jontry was a guest on Community Forum Wednesday and that entire interview can be found at the Podcast section at WJEZ.com.
