The Pontiac City Council met last night and discussed potential traffic resolutions around Lincoln School.

District #429 Superintendent Brian Dukes brought suggestions to the council, one of which included making Main Street between South and Reynolds streets one-way and eliminating parking during a certain time frame during school hours.

Pontiac Mayor Bob Russell explained the council decided to send it to the Infrastructure Committee this Thursday, so hopefully a decision could be made before school starts.

“It’s similar to what we do by Washington School, where there’s no left turn during school hours. It’s been proven to work, so we’re going to look at it, just to make sure,” Russell said. “Our goal is to work with the schools the best we can to make the safest situation.”

Russell was a guest on Community Forum and the entire interview can be found in our Podcast section at wjez.com.
