The Central Illinois Chapter of the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club handed a hefty check over to the Leg 18 Illinois Special Olympics torch runners yesterday in Pontiac.

Chapter President Michael Wittenberg said the June Casey Kohlmeier Memorial Ride brought in $11,000. He credits all the club members, families and friends for the work that went into the event and also the more than 240 people that joined the ride and participated in all the activities.

“It means everything to us,” Wittenberg said. “We put our efforts into making money for Special Olympics and different organizations like that and to us, it’s just a fun thing to do.”

Wittenberg said they will try to top themselves in the future, all while keeping the event fun.
