The Livingston County Sheriff’s Police has released the name of the person killed in a motor vehicle accident late yesterday afternoon near Long Point.

During a press conference Friday afternoon, Sheriff Tony Childress identified Livingston County Corrections Officer Katherine Duda, 30, of Long Point, as the victim of the accident.

Childress said Duda was driving eastbound on the Long Point Black Top at 300 East Road, when she was broadsided on the passenger side of her SUV. The driver of the other vehicle has been identified by District 6 State Police as Sharon Balch, 68, of Oceanside, California. She was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center, Peoria, where her condition is currently unknown.

The accident is being investigated by the Illinois State Police Accident Reconstruction Team. More information will be released only when the investigation is finished.
