Vermillion Players Children’s Theatre will be presenting “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” beginning Wednesday at Chautauqua Park Pavilion in Pontiac.

The musical is adapted from the 1968 Roald Dahl and Ken Hughes film, with music by the Sherman Brothers.

One hundred and four children will bring the show to life with music and dance numbers.

Director Jerry Keck said preparation for this musical took the group a little longer than most years.

“We started earlier than we normally do. We had our auditions in April, which we usually don’t do until the end of May, because of the detail and so forth, and of course, a little bit of accents,” Keck said. “We started working with the leads before school was out.”

The show will run five nights instead of the usual four, beginning Wednesday evening. Curtain is at 7:30 and doors open at 6:30.
