A day full of fun Fourth of July events is slated for Pontiac Saturday.
A partnership between the Pontiac Elks Club and Pontiac Parks and Recreation will start off with an open swim, golfing, children’s games and a cookout, ending in a fireworks display at dusk.
Gordy Steffens, chairman of the board of trustees at the Elks Club, said this open house is a chance for everyone to see what the club is all about, all while enjoying the holiday activities.
“This is our opportunity to be open to the entire community on this day,” Steffens said. “I want to encourage everyone to feel free to come out. Not just to watch the fireworks, but to enjoy the entire day. There are a lot of different activities that people can enjoy and I want people to feel free to come out and enjoy our facility. The doors are open for everyone.”
He and Parks and Rec Director Jerry Hayner said the fireworks continue in Pontiac thanks to the many donations from people and area businesses.
The Elks Club is located at 459 Elks Club Road in Pontiac.
