Congested traffic near Lincoln School should be relieved by a street upgrade that’s slated for later this year. At the latest Pontiac City Council meeting, City Engineer Brian Verdun was given permission to seek bids for improving Reynolds street near the school. Pontiac Mayor Bob Russell says it’s an important project because of the number of cars that hit the area when parents are trying to pick up their children. He adds that the changes include more than just fixing the street thanks to District 429’s willingness to give up some property. “The school district has said ‘We’ll give you more right-of-way off of the playground area,’ so that’s really going to help.” Russell says the city will be moving quickly on the project because it has to be done while students aren’t in school, so the changes will advance on a tight timetable.
