Last week, I told you about my childhood friend, Melissa, who was snowed in the Boston area. About 33 inches of snow fell in a 24-hour period trapping her and her family at home. She had to miss work, but was thankful that their power stayed on. Thankful as well, to the road crews that moved as fast as possible after the storm to plow them to life.
The area got pounded again yesterday, stranding her overnight at work, but before the weather got too bad, she ventured out on her supper break to McDonald’s. I saw the Super Bowl commercial promoting their “Lovin It” campaign. This is where you have to “pay” with a nice gesture, receiving your meal for free. Melissa was the beneficiary of this wonderful promotion. Her payment? A high five or a hug. Since she was in the drive thru she opted for the high five and left feeling so happy! A bad week and then a positive came her way.
Today, once she is again, plowed to life, she plans to go back to that McDonald’s and pay for the vehicle behind her. Pay it forward set off by a national chain that has decided to pay it back. I too am “Lovin It”, how about you?
