Pontiac Fire Department and Duffy Ambulance responded to an incident early this morning near the intersection of Route 23 and Old Route 66 in Pontiac, which led to a loss of life.  Edward Eilts, 48, of Pontiac was pronounced dead at the scene today at 6:25am.  Mr. Eilts was presumably walking northbound this morning in the southbound turn lane when he was struck by a southbound vehicle.  The crash is under investigation through the Pontiac Police Department and a crash reconstructionist from the Illinois State Police District 6 is assisting.  An autopsy is pending.
