Journey to the Station

My day began knowing the roads were going to be slick this morning. Hey, I was on Facebook all night, I saw the bad-weather posts! I have certain ones I pay particular attention to; if you are a police officer, I feel your information is legit. If you travel these rural roads like I do, your information is also legit.

My daughter and I thought we’d do the smart thing and venture out a little later; allow time for salt trucks and school buses, but it seems like that was everyone’s thought, including the salt trucks and school buses! Once we got out of Fairbury it became quickly and frighteningly apparent that this was no normal day. How would I describe our drive form Fairbury to Pontiac at 8 this morning? My husband texted me “How was the journey”? My response, “Glazed! I went 35-45 to keep my back end from going wonky”. Yes, “wonky” is a professional term when describing my back end! Of my vehicle!

But, there is no pity party here! My dear friend lives in the Boston area! Wow! The pictures she has sent are insane! So much blowing snow that is expected to go all day long! Thank goodness, she has not lost power and they do the smart thing there and call everything off! None of this, take-your-time,-but-see-you-at-the-office, stuff! Be safe my friends! To you in the Northeast and to us here in the Heartland!
