Heather Lamie, the woman convicted of murder in the 2011 death of Kianna Rudecil, was not sentenced yesterday as scheduled. Lamie’s attorney John Coghlan filed documents in December arguing that the state had failed to make its case against Lamie, in spite of the conviction. He’s requesting a new trial, an order of acquittal, or a reduction of charges. The court will re-convene on February 13th to consider the defense’s post-trial motions and ultimately hand down a sentence. Heather Lamie was living in Cullom and serving as a foster parent to Kianna Rudecil and her siblings when the girl died. Lamie was convicted in October and remains in custody at the Livingston County Jail.
