From Congressman Kinzinger's office:
Congressman Adam Kinzinger (R-Channahon) has this reaction to the news of the brutal attack by the Taliban on a school in Pakistan on Tuesday:
“This horrifying attack on innocent schoolchildren is outside the bounds of understanding for most of us – it is downright evil,” said Congressman Kinzinger. “When you attack children, you not only rob innocent kids of their lives, but you attack their parents and loved ones in the most vicious and permanent way imaginable. As we debate the future role of the United States in Afghanistan, we have but to look to Iraq to see what happens when we withdraw too soon and for the wrong reasons. How many more innocent lives need to be lost before we decide to see our mission there through to the end?”
Over 130 people were killed in the devastating attack, mostly children who attended the Army Public School and Degree College in Peshawar. Six Taliban suicide bombers scaled school walls on Tuesday morning and proceeded to hold the school under siege for several hours. Pakistani troops responded and managed to kill all six Taliban militants.
Kinzinger is a U.S. Air Force veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, currently serving as a Major in the Air National Guard. Last year, he joined a congressional delegation on a trip to Pakistan, where he toured conflict-prone regions of the country and met with women who have been helped by U.S. aid programs.
