Sheriff’s Department Still Investigating Fatal Accident

The Livingston County Sheriff's Department continues its investigation of the single-car accident that took the life of 17-year-old Kimberly Blair of Pontiac. Livingston County Coroner Michael Burke says Blair died as the result of a an accident that occurred in Avoca Township near the intersection of roads 2150 E and 1125 N at about 3:30 Friday afternoon. Currently there's no explanation for the accident, but it is know that Blair was ejected from her vehicle. She died at the OSF St. James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center Emergency Room just after 4 o'clock Monday afternoon. SELCAS, the Fairbury Fire Department, and the Fairbury Police Department responded to the accident.

Blair is one of three young people lost in recent weeks. In response to the circumstances, the Pontiac Township High School Administrators have made final examinations for this semester optional. Superintendent Jon Kilgore says its a gesture intended to remove a source of additional stress from student's lives. Counselors have been available at the school for student support, and trained comfort dogs will be available to the students as well.
