Challenger Learning Center Gearing Up for NASA Anniversary

By Neil Doyle

Heartland Community College will soon be honoring one of the greatest achievements in human history.

Associate Director for Public Information Steve Fast tells WJEZ’s Todd Wineburner the college’s Challenger Learning Center has a series of events planned to recognize the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission.

“In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, which happened in July of 1969, there are three events the Challenger Learning Center is holding in Normal. The center has a simulator that can simulate a trip to the moon or mars and learn about space,” said Fast.

Fast said each event to recognize the success of Apollo 11 is geared for different age groups. The events are scheduled around the anniversary date of July 20th. You can hear WJEZ’s complete conversation with Steve Fast on the podcasts page. Just click the link in the main menu bar.
