In honor of Veterans Day, today’s Veteran Spotlight is Art Leach.
Leach enlisted in the US Navy in 1942. He spent time as an aviation pilot on carriers in the Pacific. Leach explains what Veterans Day means to him.
“I had what I considered an easy time in the service. I was fortunate, didn’t get hurt – got shook up a few times. When those anti-aircraft shells go off close to you, it rocks the airplane, shakes the canopy and pokes a few holes occasionally, but never was I damaged enough to put the airplane down. I’m probably luckier than most and I realize it,” Leach said.
