Carbon monoxide detectors aren’t only a good thing to have in your home, but it’s also the law.
Pontiac Fire Chief Scott Runyon talked about how carbon monoxide is commonly produced in some homes.
“Carbon monoxide is created by incomplete combustion of a gas fired appliance, whether it’s a stove, water heater, furnace, dryers, space heaters or fire places that aren’t vented correctly,” said Runyon.
Runyon said it’s important to clean and change filters, especially in heaters, before cooler weather hits. He also said if you believe there’s a problem in your home due to carbon monoxide, call the Pontiac Fire Department at 844-0911.
