Meet Helga at the Livingston County Humane Society

This is Helga

By Todd Wineburner

The Livingston County Humane Society is back on WJEZ as regular guests on the Community Forum. Lydia Ward of the LCHS talked this morning (8/5) about Helga, a mature dachshund/chihuahua mix who’s looking for a home. Helga is a little shy, so the ideal home for her would be a place without children or other dogs. Helga is also reluctant to get close to men, but the staff at the shelter is hopeful that with a little patience, that will change.

Ward says that the shelter is currently operating with limited access. Volunteers, for example, are not allowed, but adoptions are still taking place. Ward says the process begins with submitting an application. If it’s approved, an appointment can be arranged that would give prospective owners a chance to interact with the animals. Applications are available online and once they’re complete they can be returned through fax, email, or mail.
