Filming of highly-acclaimed television show Fargo will cause streets in Pontiac to be shut down today (Monday) and tomorrow.

Redhawk Productions representative Alex Hughes asked the city council’s permission to close Mill Street between Howard and Washington, and Madison between Main Street and Plum.

He further stated that not only was it for the safety of the crew, but the show takes place in the 1950s so the goal was to avoid a Hyundai Elantra or other modern cars driving in the background.

Foot traffic in the closed areas will remain open, depending on what scenes are being shot.

The council approved the request, and filming is set to wrap on Tuesday afternoon.

The fourth season of Fargo, based on the 1996 movie, stars Chris Rock as the head of an African American crime family.
