Highly Contagious Coronavirus Confirmed in Illinois

By A.J. Harris

The latest case of Coronavirus was reported in Chicago and the Livingston County Health Department wants everyone to be prepared and knowledgeable about the illness.

Coronavirus is a respiratory illness that is believed to have jumped from animals to people, and is now being spread person to person.

Symptoms include severe respiratory illness and cough, fever, and difficulty breathing.

While there is no known treatment as yet, prevention includes the same procedures one would use to prevent the spread of the cold or flu, including washing your hands often, avoiding close contact with those who may be infected, and cleaning surfaces that may have become contaminated.

For more information about the virus, along with updates on the spread of the illness, visit the Livingston County Health Department Facebook page or the CDC website at cdc.gov.
