Bennett: Highway Funds Headed for Livingston County

The Rebuild Illinois capital bill will provide funding for 113 transportation improvement projects in the state’s 106th District, which includes Livingston County.

State Rep. Tom Bennett (R-Gibson City) said the funding represents an investment of over $410 million for areas including Livingston, Ford, Iroquois, Vermillion, and Woodford counties.

“Safe roads are essential for the survival of our rural communities,” said Bennett. “Buses bringing kids to school, first responders answering calls, farmers moving their products to market, they all need good roads.”

Locally, Bennett said the money will go towards a series of improvements for Illinois Route 17 in Livingston County.

The projects approved for the area by the Illinois Department of Transportation will take place over the next six years.
