Chicago Cubs 6 Washington Nationals 4

David Bote knocked in the go-ahead run in the 10th inning as the Cubs took game 1 of a weekend series.  Central Illinois’ Ben Zobrist collected 2 hits and knocked in 2 runs in the win.  Game two of the series is tonight.

St. Louis Cardinals vs. Detroit Tigers

The Cardinals will be in Detroit to play the Tigers tonight in a weekend series.  The Redbirds begin the day 5 games behind the Cubs in the NL Central and a 1/2 game back in the wild card race.

Chicago White Sox vs. Los Angeles Angeles

The Sox host Mike Trout and the LA Angels on the southside.

The NFL season began Thursday as the Philadelphia Eagles scored a touchdown with just over 2 minutes to play to defeat the Atlanta Falcons 18-12.

The Chicago Bears will open their season Sunday Night in Green Bay against the Packers.

The Fighting Illini will try to stay unbeaten as they host the Leathernecks of Western Illinois Saturday night.  You can catch all the action on WJEZ.

In high school football, the game of the week is Flanagan-Cornell-Woodland vs. Eureka.  You can hear the play-by-play tonight on WJEZ.

Prairie Central defeated Pontiac in 2 sets, 25-22 & 25-16.  The JV squad won in 2 sets.  The next match is the Pontiac Invitational Saturday.
