Light up your porches pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The Pink Porches campaign begins October 1 for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and now is the time to get your pink light bulbs at the Livingston County Public Health Department.

Health Education and Marketing Director Linda Rhodes said they’ve done this for several years and they love seeing how many seem to be joining in.

“We’ve been doing this for a number of years and it’s been great to see the buy we get from around the community. When you drive through Pontiac in October and the Bank of Pontiac, the outdoor floodlights are shining pink on the bank and it’s just awesome looking. If you look up across the street at the courthouse, the courthouse tower glows pink, and I’ve been told you can see that from almost in Fairbury,” Rhodes said.

The bulbs are $4 each and can be purchased at the health department at 310 E. Torrance Avenue in Pontiac.
