IHR in Pontiac is celebrating National Recovery month, and recovery can mean something very different for people in recovery.
Executive Director Joe Vaughan said recovery can happen with mental health situations, as well as substance abuse.
“September is always National Recovery Month and Teresa Diemer has a lot of different programs this month, where she’ll have, I think five people who have come back who have been in recovery for an extended period of time, who will come back and talk to people who are either beginning the stage of recovery or the middle of the stage and talk to them about their experience and what it takes. It’s a lot of hard work to be in recovery, whether it’s mental health issues or substance abuse, it’s a lot of work to continue it,” Vaughan said.
