The Livingston County Soil and Water Conservation District’s fall fish sale is happening now through the beginning of September with a variety of stock fish available.

Education Director Debbie Ruff explained why fall is a great time to stock ponds.

“Fall is a great time for pond stocking, because then they’ll be in there over the winter and can be starting to grow and by next spring, you may have some fish that are about ready for the fishing season. These are fish you use for pond stocking. They’ll be for eating in a couple years,” Ruff said.

Orders for Triploid Grass Carp, a restricted species used to clean up pond vegetation, are due by September 1 and all other orders by September 8. Pick-up is September 15.
