The Pontiac Kiwanis Club met Wednesday at their regular weekly gathering, and heard from guest speaker Chris Brock.
Brock is the Street Superintendent for the City of Pontiac, said they continue to do what they can to keep the mosquito population at a minimum.
“The City has always made an effort to control them. You’re never going to get rid of them. We rely on homeowners to take care of their properties, make sure there’s no standing water and keep their yards trimmed and mowed. Those are all things mosquitoes will hang out in and seek harbor. We just need to get the message out that it’s just not the matter of us spraying all the time – there are steps all of us can take to help control the situation,” Brock said.
He also talked about the different kinds of mosquitoes and how to best protect yourself from them.
