The fourth annual Casey Kohlmeier Memorial Ride is happening June 24, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. at the Boys and Girls Club of Livingston County and ending at the Pontiac VFW for food, music and an auction.
The Central Illinois Chapter of the Iron Pigs Motorcycle Club is sponsoring this event, and chapter president Michael Wittenberg explains money raised through this ride will benefit an organization the ride’s namesake was involved with.
“Casey was big into the Boys and Girls Club. He was on the board. He had a big showing there a lot of the time, so we decided we would start putting our benefits towards the Boys and Girls Club,” Wittenberg said.
Pontiac Police Officer Casey Kohlmeier and his K9 partner Draco were killed by a drunk driver while on duty October 30, 2013. Since his death, fellow officers who comprise the Iron Pigs have been honoring him with this ride benefitting organizations he’d supported until his death.
