Senior Malcolm Hill was named the Fighting Illini’s Most Valuable Player of the past season during last night’s team banquet. Hill was third in Big Ten scoring at 17.2 points per game and finishes his career as the third-leading scorer in Illini history with 1,846 points.

The Bloomington Thunder selected 10 prospects in the first phase of the USHL Draft, including eight forwards and two defensemen. Four of the draft picks are committed to Division I colleges.

The Blues are in Nashville tonight for Game 4 of their second round Stanley Cup Playoff series. The Predators lead the best-of-seven series 2-1.

The Cardinals almost flipped the script from Sunday when they lost a four-run lead by erasing a four-run deficit but losing to the Brewers 7-5 in 10 innings. Travis Shaw hit a three-run homer to give Milwaukee the lead in the extra frame. Jedd Gyorko homered twice for the Cardinals. The teams rematch tonight with Wily Peralta on the mound for the Brewers while the Cardinals give the ball to Carlos Martinez.

The Phillies routed the Cubs 10-2 by touching Chicago starter Brett Anderson for seven runs in 1 1/3 innings.  The series continues at Wrigley Field tonight with Jeremy Hellickson throwing for the Phils against the Cubs’ Jon Lester.

The White Sox fell in their series opener at Kansas City 6-1. The Royals ended a nine-game losing streak. Jose Quintana starts tonight for the Sox while the Royals send Danny Duffy to the bump.
