Senior Malcolm Hill was named the Fighting Illini’s Most Valuable Player of the past season during last night’s team banquet. Hill was third in Big Ten scoring at 17.2 points per game and finishes his career as the third-leading scorer in Illini history with 1,846 points.

Travis Shaw hit a three-run homer to give Milwaukee the lead in the extra frame. Jedd Gyorko homered twice for the Cardinals. The teams rematch tonight with Wily Peralta on the mound for the Brewers while the Cardinals give the ball to Carlos Martinez.
The Phillies routed the Cubs 10-2 by touching Chicago starter Brett Anderson for seven runs in 1 1/3 innings. The series continues at Wrigley Field tonight with Jeremy Hellickson throwing for the Phils against the Cubs’ Jon Lester.
