April is Stress Awareness Month, and while everyone deals with a certain amount of stress every day, there are ways to combat it.
Exercise physiologist and wellness coordinator for OSF Saint James – John W. Albrecht Medical Center Matt Janus, gave some tips that should get people on the road to living with less stress.
“First and foremost, I would say exercise is one of the most important things you can do to reduce stress. Also, taking control of your health. In addition to that exercise, making it a point to eat healthier and keeping regular visits to the doctor, that’ll help overall stress levels there. Also, they say laughter is the best medicine. It’s another way to blow off some steam, whether it’s going to a funny movie, reading a book or just doing some hobbies or being social with your friends that will help you laugh. That will help you, too,” Janus said.
Janus was a guest on a recent community forum, which can be found in our podcast section at wjez.com.
