Fire training at former Manor

Several fire departments from Livingston County and neighboring communities took advantage of live fire training at the former Livingston Manor Sunday afternoon.

Pontiac Fire Engineer Ryan Hanson explained how that kind of training works.

“We are training with other departments, which gives us live burn training to get better so when we go to regular burns, we have the experience. Livingston County donated the rest of Livingston Manor to us and gave us one day, so we’re out here, setting rooms on fire, going in and putting out, and moving through the building with different room fires,” Hanson explained.

Joining Pontiac Fire included departments from Fairbury, Chenoa, Flanagan, Odell, Saunemin, Cullom and Dwight. Final demolition of the building is scheduled in the coming days, dependent on weather.
