Livingston County’s newly retired longtime circuit clerk passed away Friday morning.

Judy Cremer served the county for nine terms, beginning in 1980. Her recent passing was felt by many, including those she worked with.

Current circuit clerk LeAnn Dixon talked about how great it was working for Cremer and said she had big shoes to fill when it came to her job.

“She was a great boss. She didn’t think of us just as employees, she took an interest in us. She thought of us as family. I think the thing I remember most about her probably would be her knowledge. She knew the stuff like the back of her hand and if she didn’t know it, she would know where find the answers. She taught us all very well. She was somebody that led by example. She’s going to be greatly missed. She was a very loving, good person and a great friend,” Dixon said.

County Clerk Kristy Masching also had fond memories of Cremer.

“Judy was a dear friend. She was a mentor and a comrade-in-arms. She loved her job and serving the people in Livingston County in the capacity she had. She was an activist for the Republican Party. She held the office of chairman of the Livingston County Republican Party for many years. She thoroughly enjoyed going to the parades and all the political stuff that went along with it. I will miss her dearly but I have many wonderful memories from our many years of friendship,” Masching said.

If you would like to pay your respects, her funeral will be at 11 a.m. today at Pontiac First Lutheran Church.
