Icy road conditions were the cause of a pickup truck colliding with a school bus west of Forrest shortly before 8 am Thursday morning.

According to Fairbury Police Chief Mark Travis, the bus was eastbound on Route 24 west of Forrest when a westbound truck lost control on the icy bridge and collided with the bus.

Prairie Central School District sent an email to parents, explaining that the bus was carrying 43 students to the junior high. Four students and both high school occupants of the truck were transported to area hospitals, where they were all treated and released.
