Governor Bruce Rauner gave his State of the State address Wednesday afternoon, and Senator Jason Barickman had comments immediately after.
Barickman said he felt the governor did a good job of highlighting the accomplishments of the administration during his first two years, but admits any accomplishments are overshadowed by the stalemate that exists in the state, while adding that he’s optimistic.
“We clearly have more work to do in the Senate and we’re going to continue to work with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle, try to come up with a package of legislation that we could wrap our arms around, vote, move out of the Senate and put in the House that actually has a chance of becoming law. We’re not there yet, and so we’re going to keep working on that in the immediate days ahead,” Barickman said.
