The Pontiac Fire Department responded to three fires from Wednesday night to early Thursday morning.
According to a press release from the department, the first call came shortly after 7 p.m. Wednesday of a stove fire on North Douglas Street. The fire was quickly extinguished and firefighters, along with sheriff’s department and Pontiac Police officers, were able to save three dogs and one bird. One person was transported to OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center by Duffy Ambulance. Cullom, Fairbury and Saunemin assisted at the scene.
The second occurred at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday on East Prairie Street, where a dryer fire was reported. Firefighters located the fire in the rear of the building in the laundry room and the fire was quickly extinguished. Extensive overhaul was done inside the laundry room to ensure the fire was not hidden in any void spaces in the building.
Assisting Pontiac Fire included Cullom, Fairbury and Flanagan, along with Duffy Ambulance. Saunemin covered the district during the call.
Later in the morning around 3, PFD was dispatched to the Forrest-Strawn-Wing fire district to assist the Fairbury Fire Department with overhaul and were released by Forrest Command shortly after 4:30.
