The Livingston County Humane Society’s seventh annual golf outing is happening Saturday at Wolf Creek Golf Course north of Pontiac.
Registration for the event begins at 11 a.m. with the shotgun start at 1. Karen Gregory with the humane society explains the history of the event.
“The event actually started because of a dog. Because we’re a no-kill shelter, we had four dogs we called the Golden Girls, who had been at the shelter for a long time, and when I say a long time, Rachel had was 12 years old before she was adopted. They did this golf outing to try to raise awareness for Rachel and they have continued it ever since,” Gregory said.
