The Cubs placed outfielder Jorge Soler on the 15-day disabled list with a left hamstring strain. The Cubs called up Albert Almora Jr. from AAA Iowa.
The White Sox started a long homestand with a 10-5 loss to the Nationals. It’s the 19th loss in 25 games for the Sox, who are now at the .500 mark for the first time this season after starting 23-10. Newly-acquired James Shields starts tonight for the White Sox against the Nationals’ Max Scherzer.
