Pontiac museums are gearing up for tourist season, and some are changing their hours to accommodate arriving visitors.
Ellie Alexander, tourism director for the City of Pontiac, explained that warmer months bring more people to see the City’s sights.
“We did see an increase even over the winter this year of visitorship, but an eight-hour day isn’t necessary, so we go down to a six-hour day. But, the six months a year that it’s nice out and there are tourists around, we need to give the extra hours because we really are seeing the visitors arriving in town earlier in the morning,” Alexander said.
The Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum and the Pontiac-Oakland Automobile Museum are now open from 9 to 5 and the Livingston County War Museum-Dal Estes Education Center is open from 10 to 5 Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 on Sundays. The Museum of Gilding Arts will move its hours to 9 to 5 beginning in May.
