The Livingston County Board met last night and recognized several people in the community.

A resolution was made to recognize the St. Mary’s 8th grade boys basketball team after setting several records in their state win, ending the season undefeated. MaLinda Hillman was also recognized for 35 years of service with the Livingston County Health Department.

Danny Watson was also appointed the Livingston County Coroner during the meeting. Livingston County Board Chairman Marty Fannin explained that at a recent committee meeting, it was decided whoever won the primary election would be appointed.

“Actually Mr. Watson was appointed on the 16th, verified on paperwork through Kristy Masching’s office. He became effective the 16th and we made the official appointment tonight, which had to be done within 90 of the resignation of Mr. Burke,” Fannin said.

The community forum with Fannin detailing other parts of the meeting will be available at wjez.com later this morning.
