Three Pontiac juveniles were arrested and subsequently detained following threats of bringing a firearm to Pontiac Township High School.
According to a press release from the Pontiac Police, a student reported overhearing a suspicious conversation at the school. Pontiac Police Major Dan Davis further explained the incident.
“Detectives learned that there had been a plan for these three juveniles to obtain a firearm and bring it to the high school and use it against two students they apparently don’t like. Fortunately, this plan to obtain a firearm never came to fruition and the entire plan was thwarted in its infancy,” Davis said.
Those three juveniles were detained at the McLean County Juvenile Detention Center Wednesday evening and must appear in Livingston County Court within forty hours of their arrest.
“I’d like to commend the bravery of the student who reported this and really got this investigation off the ground. I’m sure it took a lot of courage to speak out, but on behalf of the high school and the police department, he did a very brave and noble thing,” Davis said.
The incident remains under investigation and the Pontiac Police will continue its full-time presence at the high school.
