“A Tough Pill to Swallow” will be in Fairbury Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Prairie Central High School.
This is the third of three scheduled drug forums in Livingston County, which addresses heroin and prescription pill abuse in the county. Tim Ryan will be the main speaker for the evening, along with people in the law enforcement, emergency and rehabilitation fields.
Pontiac Police Chief Jim Woolford reviewed the program held in Pontiac last month and said it conveys and important message.
“Behind that drug user that got involved with heroin – nobody ever woke up one morning and said ‘I’m going to be a heroin addict.’ The fact that human beings are able to get themselves to that place, I think, requires some empathy on our part. It’s really hard to understand,” said Woolford.
Prairie Central High School is located at 411 N. Seventh Street, Fairbury.
