With February being remembered as President Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, there are several activities taking place at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.
Admission on February 12 will be waived and will feature a handwritten copy of the Gettysburg Address. Historic interpreters will be on hand, portraying Mary Lincoln and others. Civil War-era music will entertain attendees and jobs the president had before reaching the White House will be discussed.
Other events in the month will include Civil War Tech, which will highlight ironclad ships, and Undying Words, an exhibit that examines the impact and context of Lincoln’s most famous words from his “House Divided” speech.
