Duffy’s Ambulance Service is a new recipient of animal rescue equipment.
Max and Carol Hood of East Side Grooming shop in Minonk have made it their mission to equip several area ambulance services and fire departments with this equipment. A total of 53 kits have been donated to date.
Carol Hood said this all came about after a house fire claimed the life of her family pet many years ago.
“It’s fantastic. It’s the end of a wish you always wanted to have, meaning if this is what we were supposed to do, then this is what we are going to do. This is my little Sandy’s payment for losing her so number of years ago,” Hood said.
Gabe Vincent, general manager of Duffy’s Ambulance Service, said the new addition is a huge service to the community when it comes to saving animals in emergency situations, like motor vehicle accidents and fires.
“It’s great because so many people nowadays really do see pets as part of the family, so anything we can do to help keep that family together is going to be amazing,” Vincent said.
