Governor Bruce Rauner and the general assembly recently reached an agreement for reforms to the Illinois unemployment insurance law.

Representative Tom Bennett was a guest on a recent Community Forum and explained just how those reforms would work.

“If terminated for reasons of grossly negligent conduct, individuals will not be eligible to receive unemployment insurance payments. Of course, we’ve heard stories around the state to where that’s not the case and that provides a little more fairness to what’s going on,” Bennett said.
